DPR 1977 (2nd ed): DEBRECEN PHOTOHELIOGRAPHIC RESULTS FOR THE YEAR 1977 on the basis of photographs taken at the observatories of Debrecen(Hungary), Gyula(Hungary), Kislovodsk(Russia), Kodaikanal(India), Ebro(Spain) by L.Dezso, O.Gerlei and Agnes Kovacs Publications of Debrecen Heliophysical Observatory Heliographic Series No.1. 1995 Beginning from January 1977 the Heliophysical Observatory of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Debrecen undertook the responsibility for the continuation of the daily photoheliographic programme of the Royal Greenwich Observatory according to Resolution of Commission 10 of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), approved by the IAU General Assembly on 2nd September 1976. Accordingly the Debrecen Photoheliographic Results (DPR) is the continuation of the Greenwich Photoheliographic Results for the years 1874-1976 (published between 1884-1980). The first DPR for the year 1977 (DPR 1977) was originally printed as a book in 1987. This is the 2nd edition of DPR 1977 in ASCII version (the typist mistakes of the 1st edition corrected). Here and in the ASCII version of any further annual DPRs, all references to DPR 1977 always relates to its 1st (printed) edition. ________ The following FILES contain the DPR 1977 (2nd ed). README.txt - This file. introduc.txt - Material of observation and other particulars. The method of observation, reduction and calculation are given in more detail in DPR 1977,pp.11-38. explan.txt - Only additional remarks to the "explan.txt of DPR 1978", where detailed explanations to the tabulated sunspot data and the changes and modifications in the presentation of DPR on account of the use of the ASCII code are given. NNNN.rot - Daily results (positions, areas and other characteristics) of sunspots for each day in a whole synodic rotation (NNNN is the Carrington rotation number). Data of all sunspot groups lasting for two or more days are daily tabulated. (The rows contain 84 characters.) notes.txt - Additional information on some sunspot groups in order of Group Nos. general.cat - The catalogue contains particulars of every g r o u p of sunspots in continuation of the General Catalogue of Sunspots of the Greenwich Photoheliographic Results. (The rows contain 78 characters.) recurr.cat - Catalogue of recurrent s u n s p o t s observed in two or more consecutive apparitions (i.e. more than one, full or partial disc passage). (The rows contain 78 characters.) summary.dat - A brief descriptive summary of sunspot activity for 1977 and tables of mean areas and latitudes data (following Greenwich practice). In an additional table, disregarding the groups in the limb zones, the mean areas and latitudes of the groups, as well as of their p- and f-spots are also given separately. ________ The DPR is freely available over Internet: by anonymous ftp from fenyi.sci.klte.hu (193.6.137.102) from directory /pub/DPR.
