The nearest international airport is Budapest Ferihegy Airport. The
recommended transport between Budapest Airport and Debrecen is by train
or airport
transfer service.
The most comfortable way
to get to Debrecen from the Airport is the Airport transfer
service. The company needs the name of passenger, the flight number
and the time of
arrival. Their car waits the passenger at the Budapest Ferihegy airport
and takes him/her to the hotel entrance in Debrecen. The travel can be
ordered with return
and they also take you to the departure. The fee should be paid in
advance, the
round trip between Budapest Airport and Debrecen costs about 54 euro,
it is affordable for 2x220km.
The cheaper way of transport is travelling by train. There is a train
connection between Ferihegy Terminal
1 and the Western
Railway Station in Budapest and Debrecen Station. Arriving passangers
who would like to get
to Debrecen right away need not to travel to the Western Railway
Station or to the city center, because the trains going between
Budapest and Debrecen have a stop at the Ferihegy Terminal 1.
Travellers whose arrival or departure is at 2A or 2B terminals can
travel by
bus 200E between the Terminal 1 and Terminal 2A-2B.
Arriving travellers can buy their tickets at Tourinform at Terminal 1
from 09.00 to 22.00 or at platform B at the railway station from the
ticket vending mashine.
The two platforms of the railwaystation are connected to the Airport
Terminal with a pedestrian footbridge equipped with lifts above the
clearway. A short pedestrian path of just 200 meters takes the
passengers from the terminal to the railway station. Other reliable and
reasonable transfer option for travelling between the
Airport and any point of Budapest is Airport Shuttle.

There are hourly train connections between Budapest and Debrecen. IC trains (with seat reservation supplement) to Debrecen go from the Western Railway Station in Budapest. Duration is 2 hours 30 min. Travel by car:From Budapest: on Motorway M3/M35. E-vignette is required. Tickets can be purchased at petrol stations; via text message; online; and via landline and mobile phones. It costs 1170 HUF for 4 days and 2550 HUF for a week. See this map for more information!

The tram No. 1 connects the Railway Station, the city center, the Hotel
Divinus, and the Observatory
at the University. Tickets can be bought at the tram-driver, but
it is cheaper
at newsagents or in supermarkets.
